Photography and videography are a very important aspect of the emergency services for recording operational incidents, providing training material, evidence for fire investigation purposes, promoting education and fire safety to the public and of course for capturing and preserving history whether it is appliances, stations, incidents, events   or personnel.

 

I have dedicated 40 years of my life to the fire service as an enthusiast and 10 years as a serving member.

 

During this time I have taken thousands of photographs and videos of all aspects of the service and have gained the mutual respect of firefighters and officers I have encountered.

 

 

On Scene N.I. specialises in fire & rescue photography whether on the fire ground, at exercises, on station or at any special event to capture those important images which are an integral part in preserving the history of the fire service in Northern Ireland.

 

 

Naturally I have also been an avid collector of fire service memorabilia and over the past 40 years have amassed over 6,500 items.  This collection is currently a private display with the hope of one day soon opening a museum to the public, dedicated to the fire officer who took me to the fire station when I was 11 years of age.

 

 

Research is also an important aspect of my interest in the fire service and I have an extensive database of documents, reports, news cuttings, press releases, fleet details and personnel information.  

 

Over the years I have been able to supply information to those who have enquired about relatives who served in the service in the past and have provided historical displays at events throughout Northern Ireland and supplied props to TV production crews for local documentaries.
