About The Museum

The Christie Fire Museum was born out of a dream and a love for the fire service.

Over 40 years has been dedicated to collecting, cataloguing and preserving artefacts, documents and memorabilia mainly relating to Northern Ireland but also looks at other brigades and services in Southern Ireland, England, Scotland & Wales and further afield.

The museum is a not for profit project and solely relies on donations to maintain and store the collection in its current temporary location. It is envisaged through fundraising and grants to finance bespoke premises for the entire collection to come out of storage and be on display in a permanent museum for all to enjoy.

Objectives

To preserve the history of the fire service in Northern Ireland through the museum's collection of artefacts, documents, fire appliances and memorabilia for future generations.

To provide facilities for research, education and fire safety awareness for individuals and groups.

To establish a permanent location for the museum with provision for a cafe, museum shop and public community space for meetings and events.

To engage with fire and rescue personnel past and present by providing a safe and friendly environment for them to share their experiences and record for future reference.

To use the revenue from the museum and fundraising events to maintain and enhance the collection.

To make an annual donation to the Fire Fighters Charity which supports the mental, physical and social needs of all serving and retired members of the UK's fire family.
